7 Weeks

I am 7 weeks pregnant today. Only 33 to go! :-)

You could say morning sickness has kicked in at this point. My stomach was a little upset all day yesterday, so I set up a chair in the bathroom so I could sit while getting ready. Well, this morning I was sitting there brushing my teeth when the radio announcer said "hot dogs and funnel cakes." There went my breakfast. I have always been the kind who feels MUCH better after vomiting, though, so I am kind of glad for the break. We bought some ginger ale and ginger candy yesterday after work to settle my stomach, so I have been sipping/chewing on those this morning, and they seem to be doing the trick. Since 10 a.m., I have felt perfectly normal. I think I am extremely lucky to have made it to 7 weeks with no symptoms. I haven't been exhausted, and have only had nausea for two days. Just 5 more weeks to go in the first trimester!!!

Xon has been calling me Super Smeller, as my sense of smell is suddenly comparable to that of a werewolf. Everything smells 400% stronger. Food, my dog, plants, people.... I am mostly interested in bland foods right now. This weekend I was craving red grapes, grape Popsicles and grape Kool-Aid. My mom craved grape Popsicles when she was pregnant with me. :-) We also bought some protein shakes at the grocery so they will hopefully help me to feel a little full but still have a bland taste. I started drinking them today, and they seem to be doing the trick, too. This is the first day in 5 weeks that I haven't felt like I was literally starving to death. THANK YOU, PROTEIN SHAKES!

Xon has been truly wonderful already and is spoiling me rotten. He cooks all of our meals and brings me breakfast in bed. He is extremely patient--except for the time he tried to give me some guacamole. I said I didn't want guacamole, and I started to reach for some applesauce instead. He responded, "Well, I guess I'm just a big idiot!" We have laughed about that one since it happened. :-)

My next appointment is October 2nd, so I'll keep ya posted!
