15 (1/2) Weeks and 4th Doc Appointment

Well, Thanksgiving was the turning point I hoped it would be. I was able to eat turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes and rolls on Thursday, and it was yummy! I also had some of my mom's spaghetti on Friday, which definitely hit the spot. I even made a pecan pie--which shows you how much better I'm feeling. I haven't cooked since I got sick. (Thank you, Xondervan!) I wouldn't say I enjoy eating quite yet, but I can eat, and that is a lovely thing. I also think I can start exercising again today, which I am really looking forward to.

I have not thrown up in a little over a week--except for our drive back to Georgia, when I threw up all over myself. Xon was quick to get it cleaned up, though, while I changed clothes. He handled it perfectly! I'm guessing pregnant women are just a little more prone to motion sickness, so the long trip was a bit much for my tummy.

Babykins is the size of a softball now. I haven't felt any movements that I can distinguish specifically as Babykins, but things are definitely going on in there all the time.

I had my latest Dr. appointment this morning. This is the first time I've asked lots of questions, and my Dr. was great about answering them. I really like her. I don't wait a long time in the waiting room, I never feel rushed when I'm talking to her, and she is extremely upbeat and encouraging. She made a few points today that I had not thought of, so I was appreciative of that.

As far as our health goes, my blood pressure was normal, and I have gained 6 pounds total so far. (Could that have anything to do with the mashed potatoes and spaghetti I ate this week?) :-) Babykins' heart rate was 159 this time--down from 176 last time--which is normal. When the nurse, Katie, was trying to find the heart rate with the Doppler, she would find it for about 2 seconds, and then Babykins would move away. Katie said, "Yep, he/she is definitely trying to get away from me!" But she was persistent, and eventually we heard it loud and clear. I said, "Pretty soon, he/she won't have any room in there to run away." :-)

I got a flu shot, but it was a little too early to do the latest round of blood work, so I will go back next Wednesday to have that done. Then I'll go back on the 19th for the "BIG" ultrasound--where we check the fingers, toes, spine, etc., and find out the gender if Babykins cooperates. They will put it all on DVD for me, so that will be fun. Then I'll go for a regular checkup on the 28th.

After that, I bet things will feel like they are going very quickly!
