3 Weeks Old
We devoted most of the past week to working on breastfeeding issues. I have some WONDERFUL people helping me, and I am determined to get things on track. Most of my friends say it took them 6-8 weeks to get things going and that it was well worth the work they put into it. Bradley is sticking out his bottom lip more, so that is good. He's still falling asleep when eating, though, so I have to watch him like a hawk. We met with another lactation consultant on Tuesday, and she helped us come up with a feeding plan I can handle--for a little while, anyway! ;-) It must have paid off, because when I took Bradley for his latest weight check today, we had some great news. We were hoping he had gained at least 2 ounces. He gained almost 4, so that is super duper!!!! That put him over his discharge weight, so I'm hoping in another week he will be back up to his birth weight. Maybe we are over the "breastfeeding hump" now and can really start making some progress.
Xon's paternal grandparents came to see us last weekend. Bradley is their first great-grandchild, so it was fun to watch them ooh and aah over him--and amazing to think that my little one has GREAT grandparents. Wow!
Bradley coos in his sleep and makes a lot more sounds that show off his personality. For example, he sighs when I correct his lip when I'm feeding him as if to say, "We're doing that again?" We were watching TV Monday night, and they were showing an episode of Kate & Allie. (Anyone remember that show??) Bradley was asleep on my chest, but when someone told a joke, he laughed right on cue. Xon and I just cracked up!
Here is my latest cute Alex story. Alex and Dawn and Erich were looking at Bradley's 2-week pictures. Alex remembered that Bradley had something to do with me, so when he saw the pics he said, "Kaka." (That's what he calls me.) Erich and Dawn said, "No, that's Kaka's baby." So now Alex says "Kaka baby" when he sees Bradley's pictures. I just love that little guy!
Did I mention I want 8 more Bradley babies?!!!!???!!! :-)
